the sun and the moon
Luna y Sol
For writing at the edges of the day. By light, the first quiet hour: warm paper on a cool pre-dawn desk, light italic titles, and the date set as a low sun on the title's horizon. Tick a task and it fills like the sun coming up. By dark, the hour before dawn, for catching a dream.
In the app: Settings → Preferences → Appearance → Luna y Sol, then Light, Dark or Match my device, which turns with your phone or computer. On a computer, the look's name at the top of the journal opens the same choices. It follows your account to every device.

Luna y Sol, dark
For catching a dream before it goes. Blue-black paper, moonlight ink and one amber lamp. Every page carries the night it belongs to and that night's moon. What you keep comes back as star charts, glass plates, night slips and moon cards.

Before the house wakes.
(one page, in the app.)
A page on Luna y Sol's light side, drawn by the Haumm app with a made-up journal, and what makes it the first quiet hour.
- 1
A low sun
The day inside a half sun on the title's horizon, the month written out under the line.
- 2
Jotted lists
No boxes: an apricot dash and the label in the display italic. Ticks fill like a sunrise.
- 3
The sun to play
The note's own wave rising off the horizon, played in apricot.

What you keep, at first light.
(horizons, pads, day cards.)
Keep a line, a photo or a voice note and on the light side it comes back as a horizon, a torn pad strip, an index card, a day card or a window-light print. Re-roll for another.

The night, not just the day.
(one page, in the app.)
The same journal on Luna y Sol's dark side, and what makes it the hour before dawn.
- 1
The night, not just the day
A page written on the 24th belongs to the night of the 23rd to the 24th, with that night's true moon, turned the right way round for the southern sky.
- 2
One chart star
On the title's rule, on a computer.
- 3
Fine rings
A fine ring on each block with its mark in the lamp's amber. Ticks turn into small full moons.
- 4
The moon player
An amber moon to play, the note's own wave, and its words underneath.

What you keep, by night.
(every piece dated by its night.)
On the dark side the wall is the night's own: keep a line, a photo or a voice note and it comes back as a star chart with a constellation drawn from your own words, a glass plate, a night slip, a moon card or a sky before dawn. Photos become plate prints, voice notes sky recordings.

Not just the page.
(every room, in Luna y Sol.)
This is the app itself, with a made-up journal. Click through the page, Commonplace and Bookmarks, light or dark, and flip the writing between serif and sans.
Paper

Type
Literata for your writing on both sides. By light, Newsreader in light italic for dates and titles and IBM Plex Sans labels; by dark, Cormorant Garamond in italic and IBM Plex Mono labels.
In the rooms
By light, rooms sit on the pre-dawn desk and Bookmarks put each day on a small sun. By dark, rooms sit under the stars and Bookmarks give each month a small moon for every night. Insights stays plain.
